Recipe :: Rosemary Lemon Drop Cocktail

This week Cass is off on a Mediterranean cruise (jealous!!) that includes visits to Spain, France, and my favorite - Italy! - so I thought it would be fitting to share one of my absolute best Italian cocktails since she'll be traveling to Genoa, Florence, and Rome. You guys are going to want to pin this one for summertime... the Rosemary Lemon Drop!

Speaking of Florence, I lived there for a bit and acquired a taste for limoncello that never quite went away. I fell in love with pairing it alongside rosemary - they're sort of a match made in heaven. Tart and sweet meets savory is always a good thing.

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Limoncello
  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup (infused with rosemary, optional)
  • 4 sprigs of rosemary
  • granulated sugar (for the glass rim)

Start by halving a lemon and squeezing fresh juice with a citrus press. If you prefer to make your own simple syrup (I always do), boil equal parts sugar and water with one rosemary sprig for one minute.

Next, finely chop one rosemary sprig and combine it with granulated sugar. Prepare your glasses by running a lemon wedge around each rim, then press them into the sugar rosemary mix.

Once your glasses are ready, mix all liquid ingredients plus one rosemary sprig into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into the prepared glasses and garnish with an additional rosemary sprig or lemon wedge.

SO GOOD! These remind me of time spent strolling the historic streets of Florence and soaking up sunshine on the Amalfi Coast. I'm definitely following along and living vicariously through Cassandra's trip this time around.

For a lighter refreshing version, these would also be delicious with a splash of sparkling water or club soda! Alternatively, you could even trade out the vodka for a splash of prosecco. I'm always experimenting with this recipe. Enjoy!!
