Gwen My favorite hotel in the world is not far from Reykjavik – Hotel Budir. Evidently you can get a helicopter to drop you off there, which might be a good option because driving on the snowy roads is a bit scary if you’re not used to it.
If you have an overnight flight there, I would recommend Blue Lagoon as your first stop. Beat the crowds and it will turn your day around.
null I forgot to mention we stayed at Apartment K in Reykjavik – amazing location, really nice owners and the apartments are so pretty.

Susan, The Kitchen Designer Sounds perfect! I’ve gone to Copenhagen in January and it was such a memorable trip because it was so cozy!! Candles everywhere, in the streets, in all the shops, bright colors..a whole different vibe. You’re going to love it! Don’t pass up the reindeer meatballs….
null DO NOT MISS the Blue Lagoon. It will be easy to find a bus that stops there on the way to the airport from Reykjavik city center. You can take a dip in the hot springs and leave all nice and relaxed for your flight. Except by that point you definitely won’t want to leave. Perhaps go upon arrival as a magical introduction to the country?
