NATURAL CURIOSITY

6210508666_3f59a51f31

Skulls and other curiosity-inspired decor always seem to pop up this time of year, but if I’m going to be adding any of these pieces to my own home, I’d rather they be a little more permanent… and dare I say, beautiful? Like these pieces from the etsy shop EarthSeaWarrior that are way more unique […]

    Nah… not for me! :-)

Ok.. the first one would be a chic halloween accent, but it would be gone after that! :-)

    Have a great day!

Very interesting and surely unique. Not sure if I would add them to my interior, though I am sure there are ways to make it looks exquisite.

    Have a beautiful day.

I don’t think I could do any of these things justice in my home…they would get lost in the shuffle! The opposite of what you want from a curiosity!

    Good Morning!
We walked by a fascinating art/home decor store on 1st Avenue in Seattle, I think it might have been right next door to Watson Kennedy,(one of my all time favorite stores!) and they had some incredible decorated porcelain skulls and artwork. If you get a chance, go check them out! Sorry that I can’t remember the name of the store….

I actually think the 3rd one would be totally cool as a Halloween centerpiece~ way better than the orange and black stuff at party stores. And, bonus is you can recycle it and use it year after year. :)

DON’T FORGET THE FLOWERS!

Not everything about Valentine’s Day has to be sugary sweet pinks and lovey dovey reds…I love my florals to be romantically subdued… And all my gifts to be golden..! *images via {tig} and decor pad

Love the simple black dress with that pop of gold. There's something sort of Grecian about it… maybe I'm thinking of the Olympic wreaths. Really beautiful!

Lady of the Mist

Years ago, my family spent a summer in the Olympic National Forest, just north of Seattle. It’s a true rainforest, and absolutely magical. So, when I saw these amazing images from the recent NY Times Fall Travel issue, which were photographed in this park, I had to share. Gorgeous dresses amongst lush greenery… it seems […]

I love the Olympic National Hoh Rainforest, the gorgeous moss dripping everywhere and the huge trees, especially in the Hall of Mosses. How cool to see this as the setting of these great clothes. Thank you for sharing these pictures, they're beautiful!

I live just a few minutes from Olympic National Park, and I can verify that it does look like this, year round! I wish I could put on one of these dresses and wander on a deserted beach. Winter can be especially beautiful with the greys and greens of fog and forest.
If you're looking for it on a map, you'll actually find Olympic more to the west of Seattle. When I'm in Seattle, it never fails to give me chills to see the blue peaks of the Olympic Mountains to the west on a clear day.

Botanical Bowls for the Table

staceybrandford4a_thumb21

Botanicals for the table are no new concept. We usually see them around the fall holidays in the shape of maple leaves, or in the spring featuring a classic cabbage leaf shape. Neither one of those are really my style, but since stumbling upon this photo by photographer Stacey Brandford, I’ve decided I might like […]
