CHECKED OUT

I’m so into this overdose of black and white checkered moment… If you’re gonna do head to toe (or ceiling to floor) gingham… I like the idea of making it a bit more serious. Whether by pairing it with heavy doses of black, or sharpening it up in a suit, I’m enjoying seeing this usually cheerful fabric a [...]

Check anything grabs my attention like nothing else! It is so classic yet can work so modern. ironically I find that most of my clients are not in love with it. So when I find a client who wants to use check its as if I have met my soul mate:) I am also a nursery designer in LA and nurseries and children’s rooms tend to lend themselves well to checks!

PREPPING FOR THANKS…

thanksgiving tabletop fall harvest via ruffled blog

I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, but I’m so… well, thankful, to have the next few days to hit the pause button and spend time embracing the most important things in life: family, friends and food! But today? I’m last-minute planning, as usual. Tonight some friends of mine are throwing a Thanksgiving-Eve dinner [...]

Oh, that setting is exquisite. A white pumpkin will be on my list next year. And I tried something, and immediately went back to buy it the next day. It is Salted Caramel Syrup from Monin, and it is out of this world. You taste the sea salt, and I think more of quickly caramelizing vegetables, but yesterday, I was so eager, I cut an appled and dribbled a little syrup over it. I felt one, holy and indivisible.

HIGH POINT :: HICKORY CHAIR + PEARSON

hickory chair aspen style

Two of my favorite showrooms to visit when I’m in High Point are Hickory Chair and Pearson. This year, HC was a little different with the introduction of a new creative director. (Their previous one and quite possibly one of my most favorite people – Ron Fiore – left HC for Bernhardt, which explains some of [...]

LUSTING FOR (FALL) LEATHER

lust for leather coco+kelley

At the top of everyone’s list for fall must-haves seems to a black leather jacket. And it should be – it’s a staple piece to be sure – but that doesn’t mean we should discount these delicious pieces in shades of camel, bordeaux and hunter green… I practically live in my leather jacket, which is [...]

MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN :: COCKTAILS + DESSERT

coco+kelley julie harmsen halloween cocktail1

Every good party needs a signature cocktail to greet guests with, and our Halloween soirée is no exception! I wanted to find a recipe for a cocktail that was intriguing and (of course) the perfect shade of red. This champagne cocktail is created by adding a blackberry syrup infused with rosemary, giving it a slightly savory twist. [...]

That cocktail recipe sounds fantastic, I’ve been meaning to make some syrups of my own and store them to add to a variety of things-adding blackberry to the list! Also, those turquoise dessert cups are amazing, where did you find them??
