ARTISANAL IS THE NEW BLACK

pacific wonderland chairs via OKL

In the beginning of 2013, I was asked many times what I thought would be the ‘trend’ in furnishings and decor for the year. Amongst a few other responses, my number one word was ‘artisanal’. All of us are wanting pieces that feel special. Small batch, hand crafted, and local being many of the concepts […]

ROUNDUP: GRAB A CHAIR!

6431420301_2ac78862c3_o

It’s the time of year when our full and happy homes may find themselves in need of some extra seating for all those out of town guests or party goers! And really, there’s nothing worse than pulling out some rickety old fold-up chair that feels like it may collapse at any time. So how about […]

I love the Lina leather chair – wouldn’t mind adding a couple of those to my holiday season.
    Thanks for the ideas.

GET HAPPY!

I thought we’d start the week off with something fabulously cheerful… These chairs! I mean, really… wouldn’t they put on a smile on your face every morning? I’m not one to usually insert pink into my interiors, but these Casala classics are just too good! They’re making me want to snatch up this pair for […]

I don’t think I’ve seen anything exactly like them before… they’re fab! I love that tree too. I have a real ‘thing’ for trees, so that would be something I’d really like in my own home.

I love the last piece! It reminds me of a Zinnia tree from my toddler’s alphabet cards ‘Z is for Zinnia’. :-) Made me smile, so well done!

Hope your day is happy too!

I am not really aping person. But over the past year I have been strategically placing pink throughout my home…. Bathroom ceiling, edge of my kitchen cabinet doors, even on the door edge to my bedroom.
I would love to place these little prettiest in my home :)

BETTER THAN THONET?

5687579484_22436a3193

I’ve been on the hunt for some casual dining chairs for a client of mine, and I keep returning to the classic Thonet bentwood style. I love them all lacquered up and shiny, and their shape is perfection… unless of course you’re worried about little squirmy kiddos slipping through the open design. Which, in fact, […]

I love these chairs. There such a classic design. I would love 4 around a table in hunter green or a hot pink single one is stunning, in such a simple way.

I had the exact same reaction. I have a fantasy of a home full of Thonet-style chairs, but I thought the Anthro one looked a little more utilitarian, in a good way. Esp. love the red-orange!

HUNTING: WINGBACK DINING CHAIRS

5633177135_5bee82af82_b

I’ve been working with a client to create a lovely dining room featuring light woods and an indoor/outdoor feel – ironically it’s a very on-trend moment (every showroom at High Point had their version of this ‘Restoration Hardware’look’) featuring some very classic pieces. Which is why I’m obsessed with bringing in a pair of wingback […]

I need a few of these myself for my salvaged Restoration Hardware look alike. I love the nail head trim, and the curve lines of the Hooker chair. Although, I’m a sucker for tufted anything. If only you could merge these pieces together.

I really like the Sears chair… I even like the legs. The color of the fabric and legs is not on though! The price is good l, so doing a DIY slipcover and leg paint job would be a snap. I’d do Suzanne Kasler’s Blanc linen at Ballard and this gorgeous pale Gray paint I just saw on the Undecorate Tumblr called Tuderic Pewter by Ralph Lauren. You could add nailhead trim yourself. :-)

I love the SOM chair, but obviously its pricey! I think the Sears chair is great, you would just have to paint the legs. I actually like the shape of the leg, but you know the tone of the wood wouldn’t be that great in person!

Agree with asishome- paint the “mystery wood” legs for sure and I love the color she has suggested.

loving all your feedback! i’m leaning towards the hooker ones just to avoid any DIY disaster moments, but i’m really interested to see the sears ones in person. i think painted they would look fab and the traditional shape of the front legs wouldn’t bother me quite so much…

Love the pic! Definitely going to bookmark this one! Do you know what sort of finish is on that table?? I have 2 tufted chairs that need reupholstery and think I am going to go w the the “Restoration Hardware” look- do you have fabrics you can recommend for that on your blog?? Thanks! Love your blog!

The Aiden Gray one has gorgeous lines but definitely pricey! I would totally reupholster in a funky vibrant print (Pollack’s current spring line is NUTS!) for a beautiful wave of color in an otherwise very neutral space…You’ve got some great choices though, so it’s a toughie! Good luck with that!

Btw, Haute Khuuture just celebrated the 1-year mark and I’m celebrating with a HUGE giveway! Would love to see you stop by when you get a chance!

    Happy Tuesday hun!

I had to check this out because I am researching end chairs for a current project and the price was really great… but

I hate to be the bearer of bad news…

but the price is per chair, not for a pair… and they are crated two to an order… so you have to buy two…

  15. cassandra @ coco kelley

ohhh – countrypolitan, you’re RIGHT. i was wondering how that price was possible!! updating the post now… and thank you for catching that. confusing of them to put the price for one but make you buy two :(

I know you’ve probably already found your chairs but I just stumbled upon this post because I am also looking for wingback dining chairs. I found mine at Mitchell Gold Bob Williams. Their Silvia chairs cost starting at $600 for armless, $900 for with arms, many different fabric options. They’re having 20% in July.
