A Posh Little Find

Digging around the blogosphere this weekend, I came across P.O.S.H. via shelterrific. Based in Chicago, Posh specializes in vintage tabletop items from around the world… with a unique twist. They are old stock from restaurants and hotels – for the most part. For example…

This gorgeous little demitasse cup and saucer will compliment just about, oh, anything. As they say in their description, “The Stone color is a warm, earthy limestone color trimmed in luminous metallic gold bands – perhaps the most perfect taupe ever!” I concur :) This piece was from a warehouse in Bordeaux, France.

Want some more?

How about some gorgeous mixed silver that has been reconditioned & replated? Sold in a “mix and match” set, you can indicate whether you prefer a more simple or ornate scheme, but isn’t half the fun not knowing?

Other great finds include…

Vintage rooster plates – perfect for a big morning breakfast, Victorian ivory handled serving pieces, original issued Swiss Army blankets (perhaps not so comfy, but a very cool piece to own for historical value!), vintage European books, and what might be the cutest piece of Americana on their site, these “Pancakes make people happy” mugs (I know pancakes make me happy!).

New Blog to Love: Petunia Face

I found the blog Petunia Face because Susannah left a comment on my blog a while back, and … well, this may sound totally stalker-crazy, but … i’m completely in love. Her writing is amazing – very honest with a little sass – just my style. But what I really love is her perspective on things. It’s nice to have a little reality check from Hermes blankets and Madeline Weinrib pillows to appreciate the simple moments of real life – especially the trials and tribulations of motherhood. This was the post that first got me… start with that and then read the rest. All of them.

All I can say is, Susannah… THANK YOU.

Happy weekend everyone!

Room of the Week 1.10

This week’s ‘Room of the Week’ is brought to you by the number sixx… Sixx Design that is. Their rooms have been featured lately on a few blogs around here, so I popped over to their site myself to see what other brilliance I could find. It was hard to pick a favorite for this week, but during the sunny, but chilly, days of winter, doesn’t everyone crave a sun porch? When you can’t go lay out on the beach, at least you can snuggle down on a comfy sofa or daybed (in this case) to catch some rays.

I love this room for its simplicity, the use of that rich red, and the whimsical little garden gnome just chillin’ on the floor (see him?). And see that great lighting fixture?

Here it is again in another gorgeous room (runner up for this week’s room). I have a slight obsession with giant windows like the one in this room. Church salvage is one of my favorites, and the next best thing to just renovating a church into a home (see last week’s room!). And, again, they’ve used that warm red against the white. In fact, there were definitely a few patterns in their work, so I’ll share some other wonderful spaces with you while I’m at it…

Collections of portraits (another obsession of mine) to add some charm, character, and color or warmth to a space.

An apparent love of 2Pac – and done so well, I might add. I especially love the second room – such a juxtaposition of styles! Modern prints, a pop of yellow in that mid-century chair, a classic pedistal for the table, a zebra rug (of course!), vintage lamp, and a worn wood chair. Who would think that somehow all of these pieces would work together? And the paint on the walls – very cool. It has the aesthetic of concrete, but with much more texture. Add the baseboards to frame it out against the deep wood floors. Genius. Perhaps this should have been the room of the week…

One last room for good measure – this is the one that drew me to their site in the first place. A great use of white space to allow the color to really pop.

Vivier la Yellow!

I LOVE THIS CLUTCH!

From designer Roger Vivier, I found this fabulously fun bag via style.com and HAD to post it for my yellow-loving friend Lyndsy. This one’s for you girlie! Yet another one to covet. Can’t you just see SJP toting this around NYC in Sex in the City?

Anthro Eye Candy

I think I could do an entire blog based solely on the visual merchandising and designs at Anthropologie. (I know, I’m not the first one to think this). If I ever had a chance to get a sneak peek at what goes on behind those creative brain-storming doors, I would LOVE to know (hint, hint!). And now, without further ado, a little inspiration from my local Anthro

Strips of fabric create this amazing canopy, offset by a gorgeous chandelier of glowing glass bubbles… i call it ‘circus chic’. Or maybe you call it boho. Either way, it’s 100% awesome.

I was the store manager at a very large Anthro for many years! Any questions you have, I’ll be glad to answer! It’s an amazing process and the company is so open to ideas and suggestions. Window installations were always the best! :)

Vintage Lauren…

Well, it looks like Ralph has joined the rest of us in our search for fabulous vintage goods…

Maybe (once again) I’m the last one to know, but the Ralph Lauren Home collection now features very exclusive little vintage pieces sold in stores only. You can view them on their website, right here.

My favorite was this whimsical little umbrella jewelry holder from Cartier…

Sweet, isn’t it? Perfect for a rainy Seattle-grown girl like me :)

While I was at it, I poked around the site to see what was new. I’m always amazed at the range of styles they have for their furniture – everything from sleek and modern to rustic lodge. Here were some of my favorite finds…

Who needs a power suit with that chair behind your desk? And, I love the very cool and simple bar.

The black cut glass candlesticks are so “now”… two totally ridiculous beds… and to top it off a travel clock that I will now be coveting for the rest of my life considering it is $1450. (Or, you could feed a small country!) I will now be scouring ebay for something similar.

I want the dog and the jacket! He reminds me of my friend Kelley’s dog Mikey who is the sweetest yorkie ever. The pillow would be perfect in my bedroom. And the dominos? Well, they just top off the ridiculousness.

Well done, Mr. Lauren. Well done.

Sweet Saipua

I just stumbled upon these beautiful floral arrangments from Brooklyn based Saipua via {oh joy!}, and had to share…

I love their ‘just picked out of the garden’ look.
