ART DIRECTION :: ALONE TIME

floodline no 2 by lisa golightly

Fall is here and I’m still in need of some restorative alone time after my summer travels. Preferably surrounded by the beautiful artwork of Portland based painter Lisa Golightly. I first learned about Lisa’s work from my friend The Jealous Curator. I love her figurative pieces inspired by photography and her moody abstract paintings like Floodline No. 2, which […]

    Thank you for posting Lisa’s current moodier work. l fell in love with Lisa Golightly’s work decades ago and is my Pinteresy Art board favorite. It used to have a whimsical, vintage vibe. Her current work is darker, moodier and more sophisticated. Thank you for re-introducing me to her work. Love your blog. It is my morning favorite!

SEPTEMBER MOODBOARD // NESTING

september-2015-moodboard

I sort of took a hiatus from doing these moodboard posts this summer. Not on purpose, of course, but I suppose because life was just busy! I’ve missed them though. They’ve sort of turned into my once-a-month personal posts, so I’m happy to be bringing them back as we dive into September… Currently, I’m feeling […]

ART DIRECTION :: SUMMER DAZE

Art Direction: Summer Daze by Melanie Biehle for Coco+Kelley

Hi! I’m Melanie Biehle and I’m so excited to join the Coco+Kelley team. Welcome to the first installment of Art Direction. I’ll be introducing you to talented artists by using a single piece of their work as a jumping off point for each post. Where the art will take us? Sometimes it may be a home, others a moodboard, […]

    Dearest Melanie and Lesley,

    Ladies! Can we meet for tea? Or sit on a blanket by the shore together? Thank you for posting my work with your insights. Let’s be friends.

    Yours in summer light.

MARCH MOODBOARD //

march-moodboard-spanish-and-southwest-influence

The last time I moved into a whole new place, I came with barely anything. Because of that I had to rush to decorate. I had no sofa, no bed, no dining room table… and now, of course I have more than I even need. Which means, I’m very slowly taking my time in pulling […]

    Great mood board. These examples are such a fantastic way to show that inspiration for design can come from anywhere. So easy for people who don’t instinctively get design to be able to define and/or identify their likes and preferences. Love all of the natural elements, layers of wood, pops of color and handmade feel of the images. Thanks!

    Your mood board is lovely. Wood always somehow gives me that cozy warm feeling especially when it’s not overly polished…there’s still that feeling of wilderness. I guess :) anyway, I could not post this comment without giving the credit to the picture with a girl wearing an insane pair of knee high boots. OMG! Literally! These are amazing! Do you know what brand they r?

DRESSING FOR THE HOLIDAYS…

coco+kelley christmas decor inspiration

Now, before you get too excited, this post has nothing to do with your wardrobe and everything to do with my tree… (although we’ve got one of those wardrobe posts coming soon too!). Last week when I pulled all my decorations out of hiding, I took a look at what I had done for the […]

    I always go for color during the holidays. My favorite colors to wear during christmas are maroon, kelly greens, neon greens.. etc. I like to play up red + green without wearing the classic red and green christmas colors. Have a wonderful day and happy blogging!

    That is so funny, I’m doing the same colors on my kitchen tree. I will add varied hues of copper to mine. Good luck with yours. I just love the holidays
