INTERIORS TO INSPIRE :: BOLD + BEAUTIFUL IN THE BEDROOM

I have always been drawn to this bedroom belonging to Samantha Knapp. The layers (between pattern, texture and even furniture) feel light and welcoming in true bohemian style, but the layers themselves are – for the  most part – quite classic…. On the bed, tartan meets florals and fur. Mod dressers hang with Venetian mirrors and antique […]

What a bold space. Love all the saturated colors and mixtures of patterns. Its great to see the antiques in there as well. Everything in this space definitely feel like it is loved. Thanks for sharing.

ROOM OF THE WEEK :: 2.20

madrid-apartment-luis-puerta-07

So, pretty much every Room of the Week from now until I finish decorating my new place will probably somehow tie into my loft aesthetic. (Apologies in advance). Luckily, my aesthetic is a bit all over the place at the moment, so I’m slowly piecing it all together. Today, it’s all about this bedroom … […]

I would just like to go on record to say I cannot wait to see what you come up with for your new loft and how you incorporate all of these posts. I’ll be looking to you for some new inspiration for my space that I’d like to switch up a bit after re-signing my lease for another year. Have fun!!

I love how this space looks assembled over time with pieces from all different periods. Mixing the classical columns with the sleek parsons desks, the “broken” chair with the all glass log holder… Very nice. The all white background as well as the sparse placement makes each item look like it is displayed in a museum while still giving the space a livable and inviting room. Great selections. Thank you for sharing!!!

LOVE this. Usually minimalistic interiors lack that sort of….texture, I guess, and this somehow makes whites and golds look vibrant and warm. Can’t wait to see how you decorate your own place!

Definitely keep me posted if you do a furniture purge. I’ve slowly been adding to my new (one year old now) condo. Thanks. And as always, thank you for inspiring! -ck

KNOCK KNOCK :: KELLEY MOORE’S HOME (PART II)

kelley-moore-house-tour_bedroom_1

Yesterday I promised you some more rooms worth waiting for from Kelley Moore’s home tour – so I’m here to deliver! Now, when I first met Kelley,  her entire bedroom was panels and panels of beautiful dark wood. It felt as if you were cozied up in a nautical heaven. So, when she recently moved […]

Is it bad that I just pinned this entire post? This makes me want to clear out my entire studio apartment, paint it white, get a kick-ass chandelier and add a colorful rug. And I may just do that.

Oh, the dressing room is a dream! I can imagine getting ready in that room – it would be awesome!
Love the colourful carpet – nice idea for clumsy hands (like mine). I tend to drop a lot of my make-up stuff and the floor gets messy :D
    Greetings.

Stunning in every way, but, that sheer caftan…where oh where is it from?

P.S. I love visiting this site, such a breath of fresh air, creativity and beauty. Keep up the good work!

Love the fresh, crisp white motif! My favorite details include the lighting fixture, the credenza ( is that a mid mod piece that she redid? – Love the drawer pulls!), and my most favorite is the vanity! Is that also a vintage piece redone? It is outstanding! Love all the small green decorative details in the room too. Thanks for sharing!

I love this! So beautiful and serene! Do you know where the floral rug (dressing room) is from?! It’s so gorgeous.

ROOM OF THE WEEK :: 1.2

FitzroyNorth_masterbed2

Happiest New Year everyone! I’ve been spending this week doing a lot of cleaning up around here – in every sense of the word. Purging magazine piles, clearing out cupboards, and of course, making some resolutions. I know not everyone loves the the idea of New Year’s resolutions, but I really enjoy hearing others goals. […]

This is my first time on your blog and I love this post! I agree with reducing the clutter and the unneeded items that we all seem to hold on to. My list included to get my first Big Girl job and to be genuinely happy but I think I’m going to have to add the simplicity as well. Take a look at Boarding Together …. http://www.boardingtogether.blogspot.com

I love my annual New Year purge! It’s fun to tear through my belongings and try and let go of at least 1/2 of what I own. I’m in full agreement about getting back to the simple things. You don’t need a lot of stuff to make you happy. You only need the stuff you absolutely love.

I definitely love reading up on everyone’s resolutions, and getting inspiration for my own new year’s goals. Simplicity is a big one, that and taking a breath now and then (hoping to figure out ways to slow down in the new year.) :)

I was looking forward to your post on resolutions this year! Last year I left such a detailed and elaborate outline to my resolutions. While I accomplished many, the execution was just too much. Not simple at all.

This year my goal is health: Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
With myself. With others. With the universe.

    Simple. :)

    Cheers to you!

GET THE LOOK :: INDUSTRIAL AMERICANA

When life is feeling a bit frenetic (as it certainly has been lately) I dream of escaping to the country, and enjoying a real book by the fire, cozied up in a worn leather chair. And in my dreams, the house I escape to just happens to look exactly like this… A beautifully renovated 1907 […]

love how you recreate the look..but my only complaint is that when I looked up the chairs you recommended they went for $13,000+. Gulp. Could you feature items a wee bit more affordable??

laura, i can certainly recommend leather chairs that are more affordable, but they won’t look nearly as cool as the antique french club chairs. i usually aim for a mix of high and low, but in this case i think the real things are much more appealing! meant to inspire not necessarily be a ‘look for less’. if you want an affordable club chair, you’re going to have to go to crate & barrel or pottery barn…

This house was one of my favorite home spreads in Country Living. I tore every sheet out to save because I love their style so much! It was fun seeing it pop up again when I visited your site :) Great picks too! The mirror is great, only $35!!
