INTERIORS TO INSPIRE :: URBANE ECLECTIC IN SPAIN

mikkel larrinaga bilbao apartment living room1

I’ve noticed a shift in my interiors taste lately… which seems to happen every few years or so. It seems natural, of course, for this to happen. If we stay stagnant, we aren’t growing, and that goes for taste and life in general! But I’m actually surprised by some of the things I’m attracted to – […]

I totally understand this shift in style preferences. I have been finding myself leading towards some of the same things, in a way I feel like it grounds me a bit a I get older

ROOM OF THE WEEK :: 8.14

emilia-fanjul-pfeifler-locust-valley-05_145715576070

I must be getting a bit more traditional in my old age… or maybe just seeing the cozy comfort that comes with a bedroom that looks like this. Either way, I’m finding it amazing that I’m actually into this floor-to-ceiling wallpaper and printed carpet!? Since when? But there’s something about it that seems like the perfect spot to make a […]

I’m not usually a fan of floor-to-ceiling wallpaper but they did a really nice job keeping it stylish and up to date. All the patterns and colors work well together. Beautiful spaces!

I agree, it actually looks really cosy doesn’t it. I think because the bed is such a bold block of colour and a real central feature, it allows the heavy pattern to work and not look too overbearing.

I agree with Chichi, the bed makes a big difference. Not my style by any means, but I could sleep a night there! lol

I used to have a very nice mexican bedspread similar to this one, but believe it or not, I was robbed at my appartment on october 31st 2013 (on Halloween day; that’s very creepy, I know!!) and they took my nice mexican bedspread along my duvet, my pillows..and many other valued objects. I bought new stuff little by little but it still not the same as it used to be. :( .

This would be a wonderful addition in my guest room. I have simple white bedding with simple navy trim on the pillows. I would love to add a big splash of navy while still keeping the room soft and serene.

Recently moved and I’m having an amazing time day dreaming about the decorating possibilities. I’m completing each room little by little. The most compete space is my bedroom and if I got the throw I would definitely use it on my bed. But I can imagine using it in several places. Like the couch I will be getting soon or draped over the wing back chair I’m dying to get. It looks so comfy and cute!!!!

I just painted an accent wall in my bedroom a blueberry color (I mixed it myself using an expensive can of navy blue paint that we got cheap because it was returned and some off-white we had left over) and this would be perfect either on the bed or on the side chair!

This would either going on the dining chair I leave propped out in my hallway/living room/dining room (small apartment, what can I say?). Or it would be on the foot of my bed like what you have now because my bed is a sea of solid beiges and blues and greys. Some print would be nice to break all of that up!

Due to my large, extended family, I have turned a room to the left of my entry hall into a guest/sitting/TV room. I used a beautiful, unfinished antique bed in this space. Since the room is visible through french doors, I desperately need stylish bedding, this throw is just what I need! Beautiful! Thank you for all of the inspiration and motivation you have given me.

i would love that throw covering the foot of my bed. i’ve covered my headboard for summer with a cheery blue/yellow/red floral print, and i have a cream with tan trim bed cover. the navy throw i used last year is a bad idea because my newly rescued doxie-beagle mix loves the foot of my bed and sheds like a……dog. i wish i could post his pic- you could not resist im so sure.
i’m about to reline not quite matching vintage train cases (also blue) to use as clothing storage on a tall oak bookshelf. your post is inspiring

INTERIORS TO INSPIRE :: BOLD + BEAUTIFUL IN THE BEDROOM

I have always been drawn to this bedroom belonging to Samantha Knapp. The layers (between pattern, texture and even furniture) feel light and welcoming in true bohemian style, but the layers themselves are – for the  most part – quite classic…. On the bed, tartan meets florals and fur. Mod dressers hang with Venetian mirrors and antique […]

I’m not sure i’m brave enough, or clever enough to get it spot on in my home. My bedroom is also quite small, so too much going on may not work. You’re right that its such a fine balance. The bright blue velvet headboard really drawers me in to this room, its such a bright block of colour and a great focal point. Fabulous headboards can be a great place to start in a room and then you can design around it. The reds and patterned curtains/cushions break up the block, softening the look, adding layers and style.

I love how this space looks assembled over time with pieces from all different periods. Mixing the classical columns with the sleek parsons desks, the “broken” chair with the all glass log holder… Very nice. The all white background as well as the sparse placement makes each item look like it is displayed in a museum while still giving the space a livable and inviting room. Great selections. Thank you for sharing!!!
