GET THE LOOK :: THE WHITE SHIRTDRESS

get-the-look---white-shirt-dress-for-spring

There aren’t many pieces in the closet more classic than the white button-up – that I think we can all agree on. But how are you all feeling about the white shirtdress? I remember seeing Leandra bravely rocking hers at fashion week last September and thinking… I love it. But, it takes some guts (and […]

What timing with this post. This weekend I was watching an interview with an older actress who was wearing one of these with black nylons and all I could think was that it looked like she is missing her pants and when she stands up her undies will show!
I think a belt would go a long way, however, I do like the one maneater is wearing, the bow is very cute and makes it look more like a dress.

I’m totally with you – and black nylons would make it look even more strange in my opinion! They are tricky and need to be done really well. The problem with a belt, of course, is that it shortens an already short piece, but there are some nice, longer ones that look less like a large shirt and more like a purposeful dress, which is what I’d lean towards – especially if you’re on the taller side!

THE CHLOE BLANKET… ER, COAT.

hbz-street-style-couture-s2014-paris-36-lg

While stalking the street style coming out of the couture shows in Paris, I instantly fell for this Chloe … poncho? Wrap? Coat? I don’t know even know what to call it. Except awesome. It’s kinda got that Pendleton blanket vibe, right? But, about a million times more chic. The only downside is that I […]

I’m sorry. It doesn’t matter who’s wearing it. It’s horrible. It’s not flattering and certainly not chic. It’s a blanket pure and simple!

love it/hate it … love the baby blue but it says blanket/fleece to me and if there’s a fabric I really don’t like .. it must be fleece ..

So I paused really hard to consider the first image, and I almost *almost* feel like it works, but then I look at the second image and just hate it. As in, “kill it with fire and hot stabbity death” HATE.

Oh, phew. Got that out of my system.

JANUARY MOODBOARD //

coco kelley winter moodboard

Post-holiday winter is always a bit of a reality check, isn’t it? This is the time of year where I realize that while the holidays may be over, the cold weather is really just beginning. Which, for me, means now that the Christmas decor is all packed away, it’s time for a winter refresh of […]

    Hi Cassandra

What beautiful images you have shared today. We are enjoying Summer and all it’s wonder in Australia but on those really hot days such pics are very welcome and I am envious of the thought of you dressing in a coat and scarf. You have to love Winter for all it layering goodness. I am also hearting the gold frames and mirrors, such a pop of decadence and shine never goes astray. Bonne Annee’ – Shell A Darlings Nest

I love that you posted about this Cass, I just had the exact same experience! As soon as we de-adorned our house of the holidays, I had the urge to purge. I rearranged the furniture and wan to get rid of the coffee table, the bar stools – all non essentials… Maybe 2014 will be the year of minimalism… Nah ;)

WHAT TO WEAR :: INTERMIX LOOKS FOR FALL

I’ve always been such a fan of Intermix’s stores, so I’m really excited that this week I’ll be helping them launch their first Washington store in Bellevue with a big ‘ol party and plenty of shopping! Last week, I borrowed a few of my favorite pieces, and styled them up in my favorite places in […]

And I thought this was a design blog.
    NOT your personal photo-shoot.
    Sorry, my mistake.

This used to be the best blog for home design. RIP.

well, i’m sorry you feel that way – it still IS a blog for home design. but it has also ALWAYS included fashion as inspiration and a part of design. if that’s a problem for you, there are plenty of other interior design blogs dedicated to a single subject – i hope you enjoy them.

I love seeing more personal posts every now and again. I get just as much inspiration. After all, design encompasses everything — from what we decorate with, to what we wear, to what we eat. You look gorgeous here!

I LOVE that jumpsuit! What size are you wearing. I checked size chart and seems like it may run a little small??? What is your opinion on how it runs?

    Thanks!

Hey Ivy! I’d say it actually runs pretty true to size! I put on a petite for the photo shoot because it shot better, but in reality I’d probably have gone with a small. It’s meant to hang a bit!

So funny how people are so quick to write a negative comment when it clearly states in your blog description ‘brilliant fashion’… and I happen to love your fashion posts considering that jumpsuit is pretty brilliant! Just added it to my list for New Year’s Eve options. Thanks for the inspiration!

Forget the clothes… I want the legs! What on earth are you doing for cardio? Spin class and kale smoothies? LOL. Your thighs look amazing in that white dress, and how often can anyone say that? Try never. I live for these fashion posts!

    Love this post!

Can you direct me to those fabulous shoes you’re pairing with the jumpsuit?

Also, saw the negative comment above and feel the need to speak up. You’re blog is fabulous! You deliver creative, fresh and inspiring material. That includes home interiors, fashion, food, beauty or soul searching. You do all of this graciously, sincerely and with true humility. I’ve been following this blog since its toddler years and have really enjoyed watching its evolution. And yours! Though you are one of the most seasoned and successful bloggers out there, this space still feels fresh. Never stop changing or growing.

So proud that you are a fellow Zag!
