GET THE LOOK :: HEAD-TO-TOE GREY

the-the-look-head-to-toe-grey

First Birkenstocks, now endless layers of grey? Seattle sure seems to be right on trend these days, doesn’t it? But when you actually live in the grey (or with the guys who are still wearing socks with their birks) the trend doesn’t always seem quite as appealing. However – being a black-and-white girl myself, I happen to […]

I thought it was silly when I heard grey was going to be a huge fall trend, but now I’ve found my closet full of it. I ADORE that chunky grey knit in the second photo.

GET THE LOOK :: WESTERN-STYLE FRINGE

get-the-look-western-fringe-cocokelley

Western style has been slowly creeping back into closets the past year or two, but I think it’s safe to say that the look has become a full-on trend at this point, with cowboy inspired ankle-boots, bolero hats, and – of course – plenty of fringe… The good news? You don’t have to look like a […]

STREET SMARTS :: TRANSITION TO FALL

transition from summer to fall

Waking up to cloudy skies this morning, it seems like mother nature is right on schedule with fall this year. On the other hand… it’s supposed to get back up to 80 this weekend. Which means we’re officially in that weird transitional phase in fashion where you’re ready to pull out the sweaters, but not quite […]

Awesome ideas, especially the flannel + something dainty. I’m always envious of the way they look on others but I always felt too boyish to try to wear them. But I’m totally going to try to pair the flannel with a sweet cami and even maybe add a statement necklace.

GET THE LOOK :: SUNNIES + HEAD SCARVES

head wrap and reflective sunglasses paris fashion week via wwd

I like to give myself goals for every fashion season – something to push me out of my routine and guide some of my purchases and style direction as the weather changes. So for summer? I’m thinking the combination of some really fabulous and bold sunglasses paired with mastering the art of the head scarf […]

This is such a great idea to set yourself fashion goals for each season and trying to get out of your comfort zone by challenging your fashion routine. I love it and have to think of one myself too. I would probably start with a simple and modest version of the sunnies and scarfs combo. I really like the white hot pair.

I love the idea of fashion goals! I get intimidated to try new things, and I like the idea of it being a “goal.” I really wanted to get braver about wearing hats this summer, because I love them but they’re not worn a lot. Why is it so hard for me to try a style that is out of the norm?? You inspire me to be more courageous with fashion.

I always find that little accessory pairings are such a fun way to add a pop of color and a little uniqueness. Making fashion goals is such a great idea, I know that everyone once in a while I need the extra push to be more adventurous with my style.
    Love the retro pair!

Love it! Perfect solution for my new summer hair that’s too short for a pony. And I’ve been craving some retro shades for a while, what a great excuse to go for it! Thanks for the inspiration!

GET THE LOOK :: THE WHITE SHIRTDRESS

get-the-look---white-shirt-dress-for-spring

There aren’t many pieces in the closet more classic than the white button-up – that I think we can all agree on. But how are you all feeling about the white shirtdress? I remember seeing Leandra bravely rocking hers at fashion week last September and thinking… I love it. But, it takes some guts (and […]

What timing with this post. This weekend I was watching an interview with an older actress who was wearing one of these with black nylons and all I could think was that it looked like she is missing her pants and when she stands up her undies will show!
I think a belt would go a long way, however, I do like the one maneater is wearing, the bow is very cute and makes it look more like a dress.

I’m totally with you – and black nylons would make it look even more strange in my opinion! They are tricky and need to be done really well. The problem with a belt, of course, is that it shortens an already short piece, but there are some nice, longer ones that look less like a large shirt and more like a purposeful dress, which is what I’d lean towards – especially if you’re on the taller side!
