Easter Tabletop Inspiration :: Going Dutch

If you've been paying attention, then you may have noticed lately that I've been making a serious effort to step up my color game and step out of my little white box (literally). So, for our first tabletop of the year, I decided that I wanted to go in direction that would really push my creative boundaries - from a color standpoint at least!

When I pitched the idea of a Dutch still-life painting-inspired floral arrangement to our contributor, Cozbi, she was alllll about it! It's moody and romantic, classic and fresh all at the same time. And for me, it evokes that change from winter to spring just perfectly...

The elements: A vase bursting with Spring florals. A loose, drapey runner. Some classic china. Vintage flatware. And to add some fun? A mix of painterly (see what we did there) dishes, casual styling, and serious - you guessed it - COLOR.

To really bring in spring, and in going with the Dutch painting theme, a spread of fresh fruits and veggies with naturally dyed Easter eggs is on the menu! We sprinkled our salad with edible chamomile flowers, and dyed our eggs with beet juice. The putty colored linen was essential to creating and old world feel while taming down that vivid pink, green and mustard.

Cozbi pointed out how perfectly this would be in a classic buffet form too! But you know I can't resist a true tabletop.

With a setting this vibrant, there's really no need for formalities like place cards, but I did love these little candies as a goodie to leave for guests.

For me, it's the perfect setting for our kind of family gatherings. Nothing to precious or formal - just inviting and fun! And , since the floral arrangement is the star of the show, we're bringing you a full tutorial tomorrow! Just in time for your Easter and spring celebrations.
