Room Of The Week :: An Eclectic Formal Living Room

With fall in the air and a very grey Friday upon us, I had to pick a Room of the Week that felt cozy and … well, maybe just as crazy as my week has felt. But in a really good way…

The layers in this apartment living room are kind of amazing… if you’re into mixing print and pattern. And antiques. And great art. Which I totally am. Would I do this in my own place? Nope. Do I love it? Yes!

It reminds me of an incredibly well designed hotel where you enjoy this look for a few days, when it’s all perfectly cleaned and styled, and then you return to your much more bare, calm home. But, more power to the people who reside in this eclectic beauty.

The massively high ceilings are pretty key to this kind of look. Imagine how cluttered it would feel if the ceilings were lower! The breathing room supplied by the walls and windows is a must, which is why I love this window seat moment. The unexpected mirror ball hanging in this super chic vignette is the icing on the cake.

What do you think about this kind of eclectic chic vibe? I feel like most rooms that we see with this much layering of print and pattern are very bohemian, but I much prefer it in a classic environment like this one. What elements could you live with or without? I think I’d boot that coffee table right out of there, and keep the rest!
