Home Tour : Collected Brooklyn Brownstone

Today’s home tour has me feeling totally inspired! Welcome to a dramatic, multi-storied designer’s paradise. This stunning and collected Brooklyn brownstone is filled with cozy, eclectic pieces that range from high to low-end, to family heirlooms as well as custom furniture and fixtures. It’s no surprise that home owner, Louisa Roeder, is an interior designer with impeccable taste.

We’re on a roll with home tours that exude amazing architecture, millwork, and moulding details. Much like our recent chic Parisian home tour, the lighting and character of this space is to die for. Nestled in the Prospect Heights neighborhood, the renovation of this historic home took over eight months to complete.

In the living room, the elongated and tall windows are complimented by large scale furniture, all in the same greige, monochromatic tones. It’s a brilliant move to balance the space, while keeping things bright and airy. Another genius layering concept I’m loving? Rugs on rugs on rugs.

The living room alone is curated with modern meets vintage pieces that feels comfortable and cozy, yet uber stylish. And it’s extremely impressive that they’ve managed to create three separate seating areas using this layered rug trick.

The dining room is bright, functional and full of seating. Can you imagine hosting a party here? With formal seating around the table, bar stools, AND a cozy window nook… I’m guessing entertaining in this space is a breeze. I’m digging the custom light fixtures that are unique to their space, yet close enough in proximity to compliment each other.

I’d claim this spot for sipping coffee every. single. morning. It’s just too good! Window seat, storage, artwork, plants, and lots of windows… it doesn’t get much better than that, folks.

Upstairs, this feminine, layered bedroom is reallllllly speaking to me. Between the architecture, chic drapery, soft color palette, and seating area, this large space looks anything but disconnected. The seating vignette helps to balance the negative space across from the bed. I love the way carpet and rugs were layered to enhance the cozy factor even further.

And can we just take a moment to admire that art collection? Now, THAT is how you mix modern, eclectic and heirloom pieces. I’m coveting the entire vignette.

Here’s our take on achieving a similar look for a curated and collected home…

1. hooped linen chandelier // 2. black and white brushstroke painting // 3. green hand block quilt // 4. solid pink pillow // 5. antigua tassel pillow // 6. gold crane table lamp // 7. ivory club chair // 8. vintage kazak rug // 9. venetian style mirror

It’s really all about layering and mixing the unexpected. Throw in a few mod pieces amongst heirloom traditional elements, and don’t forget to showcase your art collection! What are your favorite takeaways from this home tour?  xo, Sarah
