Home Tour :: Urbane Bohemian Charm

The next time my boyfriend asks me to make the case for white walls in our home, I'm showing him this house. A space that feels entirely lived in, eclectic, a bit like visiting your insanely chic but crazy grandma, and completely comfortable.ย We'll call it urbane bohemian...

A space where global textiles meet classic chintz and a variety of antiques, all in perfect harmony thanks to its owners - Ian and Emilie Irving - whose prospective careers in collecting (his in silver, hers in textiles) make this mix seem effortless. The reality is, of course, that it takes an incredibly keen eye to mix and match so many eras into one charming home.

Not being a huge fan of rules myself, I applaud this mix and how it manages to soft and rich at the same time - something I imagine you can only get with timeworn textiles and plenty of editing.

This sweet bedroom might be my favorite spot in the house for its blatant whimsy...

Which side of the bed would you take? The right or left?

Oh, and let's not forget the outdoors, where a layered table perfectly mimics the style inside...

Brave enough to start mixing your vintage textiles into this cozy eclectic look? Well here you go... just remember that the key to this style is having a selective eye that builds a beautiful collection over time!
