If there’s one update that makes all the difference, it’s lighting, and this week I’ve been inspired by sconces. Whether they’re at your bedside, flanking your mantle, or tucking into a nook, these light fixtures are super versatile. They can literally be installed almost anywhere – even the side of a built-in.

Personally, I love the minimal approach and use of negative space that really draws attention to the more modern fixture.

Or use them to play up your moulding and millwork. This antique industrial sconce perfectly completes this vignette:

Or in this instance, when you don’t have room for a floor lamp, but need the functionality of a light- a sconce is the perfect, space-saving alternative:

Of course making a statement at your bedside and accentuating your artwork with a sconce is a classic trick of the trade:

Sometimes lighting can be pricey and I’ll be the first to admit – I’ve been known to splurge on an amazing fixture! But there are some really great affordable sconces that won’t break the bank! They’d be perfect to fill negative space or create soft light in the evenings, because we all crave that mood lighting, ambience, and cozy vibe.

Here are 13 sconces under $130 in a variety of styles to suit any setting!
