While I’m not usually one for sweet sippers, ’tis the season for indulging! And this festive and minty little holiday cocktail recipe is just what your guests ordered…

The Mint Merrymaker // serves 1
- 1 oz. white crème de cacao
- 1 oz rain city coffee liqueur
- ½ oz. creme de menthe
- 1 oz. heavy cream
- chocolate wafer, fresh mint and mini candy canes for garnish

Mix all the ingredients (minus garnish) together in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until frothy!

Pour the mixture into a small lowball or martini glass, then scoop the froth on the top…

Crumble some chocolate cookies for garnish (we used mint oreos!) and add fresh mint or a little peppermint stick.

The coffee liqueur we used in this recipe is made locally in Seattle, and is my favorite – a true coffee flavor that’s not creamy at all, it makes for a delicious mixer or sipper on ice. But what’s great about it in this recipe is how it cuts the sweetness of the other ingredients, for a well balanced dessert cocktail. I also cut down the amount of mint – colored booze scares me – for a more subtle flavor.
As always, you play with the portions to suit your palette! If you’d rather use something on hand, try a cognac in place of the coffee. And enjoy!
