Every time summer rolls around, I pull out my box full of those few articles of clothing reserved strictly for warm weather, and out come my favorite white, wide-leg linen pants.
I've always found it funny how people are intimidated by this style - especially if they're short like me - but the truth is that it's such an easy breezy look to pull off, everyone should have a pair in the rotation for the warm weather ahead! It's all about finding your right fit and style...
Look #1: The Fancy Pant. I love this style. There's something so chic about a white wide-leg pant. The more sheer you can get away with, the better, too - although doing that properly is much harder to pull off. The silkier the pant, the silkier the top for this look. To me it's all about making this one seamless, draping style. That said, a lightweight lace or crop works well too.
Look #2: Keeping it Casual. Of course, for a more everyday style, there's the casual pant, which might seem like an easier way to ease into this look. I feel like my white linen pants are right in between these, and can be dressed up or down. For this style, a plain tee will do. Just make sure that it's fitted enough that it still shows a little shape, and doesn't fall too long. I love all the patterned pant options in this look!
In either look, it's all about the pants, but with white, the fit is crucial. Don't hesitate to spend a bit more on the pants themselves or some great post-purchase tailoring. Truth be told, wedges are usually the best heels to wear with wide leg pants because you're less likely to catch the leg on them, but I couldn't resist these perfect white sandals that are just dressy enough to work for any summer occasion.
This look has literally inspired me to go shopping this week before I take off for vacation! All the essentials are here - panama hat, pants that are easy to throw on with a bikini or tee, and those metallic slides! The casual raffia backpack is the perfect addition too. I'll take it all please.
