While our summer temperatures may still be hovering, there is no doubt here in Seattle that we are on the verge of fall. Mornings have been grey and cool, and next week the forecast is returning to rain.

I always have the hardest time figuring out what to wear in between seasons. It’s not warm enough to head out without a light jacket, not cool enough for full force fall looks. So, I’m taking a cue from this editorial and mixing things up just enough…

A summer maxi + fall coat is perfect for these transitional days. You could keep the sandals going too.

Or play around with a skirt + boot combo (which I actually did last night!) topped with a fall hat. A breezy trapeze jacket does the trick for a quick topper.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to do a little fall planning either…

I’m really loving rich browns for fall, and this tone-on-tone action is perfect. Crazy embellished sunnies optional.

One of my all-time favorites is the camel + hunter green palette as well, although right now I’m seeing a lot of olive greens, so maybe it’s time to switch that up a little?

I’m totally going to spend time this weekend on my wardrobe reshuffling, cleaning out for fall, and making a list of my next must-haves for the season to come!

Love this! The mix of colours this season totally remind me of the countryside in paris in the fall. Heavenly mix of textures as well. Just can’t wait to get my hands on some of these goods for fall. Thanks for sharing!
I just did a post on wonderful fall items for your home that you might like as well!

    Hi Cassandra,
I love the coppery brown sweater and scarf with the gray pant. I hadn’t thought about that combination! Great looks!

Awesome rich colors. Do u think a splash of a warm spring or summer color would work with the color combo for example teal blue etc.

I do! I think there are plenty of ‘spring’ colors (everything from pastel to aqua) that could still work nicely. I think the only ones I’d stay away from might be some neons, although even a chartreuse could be fun…
