In the beginning of the year, I avoided writing anything about emerald green. I’m still not really into this whole ‘color of the year’ thing. But – if we’re being honest – there’s one area in which I’m completely infatuated with this rich shade…

The green sofa. I’ve been collecting images for a while now of these lovelies. I like to see how they’re styled in different environments from regal to glam to completely funky.

Incredibly chic with mostly black, white and gold, this room by Nicole Coehn is definitely amongst my favorites. A similar look, by Lilly Bunn but with a bit more whimsical vibe is also clearly winning.

I love it in a little more rustic environment…

And especially paired with one of my all-time favorite rugs…

And now, for the kicker. While most of these sofas are likely 100% custom, Ikea just introduced its own version of this sought after color…

And West Elm is offering a little settee in a more mossy tone that could do the trick too. I love seeing green as a stock color!

While I’ve been apartment hunting I can’t help thinking of how fabulous either would look sitting across from my current black + white sofa. Helloooooo gorgeous. Maybe even give those Ikea feet a little gold treatment to glam it up.

Which room most speaks to your style??

Yay for the IKEA versions of things! You really can create that look with that IKEA sofa. I am all about white walls and I think this may have helped me find just the right color sofa to go with it. THanks!

Definitely the one by Nicole. I adore how it glams up a black and white scheme, while not completely screaming for attention. I’m with you have a big crush on the velvet green sofa!

Cathy, you’re so right! I just had the West Elm tufted settee you’re speaking of delivered last Saturday, and it is a stunning “Moss” green!! The photo posted above of the W.E. Moss Green settee is way too light and doesn’t do it justice. The way it appears in the catalog is very true to the actual color. Super comfy to lounge on, too 😉

I’ve had a love affair happening with green sofas for awhile now (long before it was the color of the year.) I just put in an order for a sofa with velvet green upholstery (not as grass green as the images above), and I am excitedly waiting for it to arrive. I think it’s the perfect burst of happy color for the rainy, gloomy Washington days that are coming.

Now you made me dreaming about green velvet sofa 🙂 I love the combination of the green sofa with the pink armchairs symmetrically positioned on the sides and picture collage on the wall. Ahhh, can I move there? Kay xx

Green is a “tough one”…there are so many undertones (blue, yellow, etc) so…until you see it “in person” it’s a tough one. franki
