PINK YOUR SINK!

Can you believe that October is almost over!? I swear, the days have been flying faster than ever. Usually by now I’ve done a roundup of my favorite items to support Breast Cancer Awareness month, but lately I’ve been a little disappointed with the gimmicks that companies are coming up with, to be honest. I’d much rather make a straight donation than purchase something I’ll never use again just because it’s in pink.

However, that’s not the case with every product. Because… you can always use another bottle of soap!

I’m happy to say that Method seems to be right in line with my way of thinking. It’s great to have products or a campaign that helps to promote the awareness, but it says a lot more when you put your money where your mouth is and just make that donation - regardless of how many bottles of soap (or whatever) you sell. Instead, Method has made the commitment to donate $10,000 to four charities, nominated by YOU. Each charity will be receiving $2,500. You can check out their Facebook page for all the info, and the big announcement this week of which charities will be the receipients!

And in case you really want to step things up…

You can always pink the skylight or window in your shower too. (I’m sorry, but is that not the coolest idea!?) It will totally match your pink soap that you’re going to go put on your sink now, right? Because it’s nice to support awesome companies who are making good and doing good.

You can always switch your lightbulbs out for pink ones in October, too, or ones with a soft pink glow year-round! Makes everything look much prettier.

I love that you chose Method–unlike lots of products that contain known carcinogens yet are supposedly supporting breast cancer ‘awareness’ (and how does a pink handgun make you more aware of breast cancer risks and prevention anyway!?), Method’s ingredients are typically pretty good. And I love that skylight! :)

Cannot for the life of me understand why you posted a picture of the birthday girl with a cigarette in her hand. Come on….that was totally not necessary. As far as I’m concerned, it ruined the picture. That’s really the only thing I noticed. Was it supposed to make her look cool or more mature? It did neither. Please consider very carefully what you post. You do a great job but it only takes one thing to ruin lots of work.

i’m sorry – but i loved the image. i wasn’t trying to condone smoking, as i’ve mentioned nearly EVERY time i post an image with a cigarette or a fur or anything that might possibly offend someone. i think we’re all past the point of thinking that someone posting an image with someone smoking is somehow possibly trying to convey that it’s cool? i can’t stand it, don’t want it around me, and am certainly not trying to tell people to do it. it just happened to be in the photo – as a part of an editorial where i’m sure it somehow added to the ‘image’ that THEY were trying to sell. i just liked the balloons, the hair, the dress. i’m sorry that it somehow ruined it for you.
