Being that the grey has settled in around here, I’ve been in nesting mode lately. Piling on pillows and blankets around the house, and swapping out some more of the cheery spring and summer palette for neutrals. But the second, I saw this moody, dark and cozy space, I was instantly re-inspired to bring back a little color… in shades of pink!
Multiple layers of fuschia and blue in all different patterns abound in this room. To keep things from feeling too heavy, lighter woods and walls are mixed in.
The magic to these rooms is keeping with natural and mood lighting, along with painted walls. If you were to change either, the overall feel would shift drastically. The second necessary piece is obviously the layering of a consistent palette of blues, pinks and browns. I’ve been quite obsessed with fuchsias in particular lately, so its no wonder that this space is calling my name.
You’ll also notice that many of the wood, trim and even walls are in a putty tone – an important aspect to keeping some calm in these spaces and it compliments the shades of brown nicely too.
To get the look for your own home, start with the bigger pieces, and then layer layer layer! I’d begin with a blue and white rug, and a few furniture pieces upholstered in browns (patterened or solid!). Then add in some accents in pinks and blues (like the chair and the stool) and finally, top with loads of pillows! I think keeping some worldly influences is part of the style as well, so be sure to mix in pieces from different cultures.

LOVE! These are some of my favorite interiors and I love every single one of your picks!
I never get to read your posts any more because the new web format causes the images to overlap the text. Just thought you might want to know and see if your web developer can iron out that kink…. miss the smooth and visible posts of the old site. Cheers!
Blair, I’m so sorry you’re unable to see the site correctly! I’m sending you an email now

Great tips on incorporating fuschia. I think it’s a lovely colour when done right. I like the idea of pairing it with wood so it’s less overwhelming.
Thank you so for using some of the loaded trunks goods on this post!!! I love Fusia too!
That floral couch is to die for (as is the blue abstract above it) – whose house is this? And where can I find that incredible fabric?!
