LET SUMMER LINGER :: A GIVEAWAY!

Tomorrow marks the official first day of fall on the calendar, and I can hardly believe this summer has flown by so quickly! I have to say it was one of the more memorable ones for me. So, to celebrate two of the most important moments of the season, we’re doing a little giveaway to help keep the summer memories alive!

Nothing brings me back to a moment or memory like scents do, so to honor my Italian-inspired Garden Party, this set of delicious lotions from Royal Apothic fits the bill nicely. Venetian Grove and Lemoncello honor the Italian tradition, while City of Angels, A Cutting Garden, and Holland Park celebrate garden settings. All of them fresh and delicious!

And, then of course, there was my recent getaway for a week of sailing in Desolation Sound. I had a moment on that boat, in the incredible sunshine, breathing in the deep sea air thinking… nothing smells as fresh as this! With perhaps the exception of a Sea Salt Candle from Linnea’s Lights. It takes me right back!

So if you’re clinging to summer just a little bit longer (like me) then enter to win a set of one hand creme and one candle by leaving a comment on the blog letting us know what your absolute favorite summer memory was. We’ll draw five winners next week! Good luck! And happy weekend!

Is this where u leave a comment?! 1st time! I don’t share personal stuff, but i am inspired and i love your blog. I lost my sweet 7 year old recently and my favorite memory this summer was going to long beach with my 3 other children and husband and writing letters to her, putting them into a vintage bottle we found while picking, and throwing it far out into the ocean on her birthday. Then for hours we ran aimlessly far out into the tide in the evening. I have never been more sad and happier at the same time. I felt free, i felt her…

Favorite summer memory: Fourth of July vacation with my boyfriend and family at our grandparent’s mountain house. The house is in a small, lake communitiy in northwestern PA, and we got to watch my younger siblings take part in the the quaint Fourth of July parade they hold each year along Main Street, which is no more than two blocks long and is crowded with all the summer residents. Maybe it was the old houses and the small town feel, but it was all very nostalgic.

I went wine tasting with a small group of girlfriends at the very beginning of the summer. It was one of the first nice days we had this year. We brought a super-fancy picnic lunch a la trader joes and had a wonderful time!

My favorite summer memory would have to be sitting on the beach in Brigantine with me mother – enjoying the cool breeze, warm sand under my toes, and my September issue of Vogue, when this bold seagull swooped down and took a bite out of my sandwich I was holding in my hand eating. My mom did not even have time to warn me. I heard her holler but it was too late! It was funny. I was advertising the sandwich way to much for the seagull I guess, he couldn’t resist.

Corporate life means hardly any vacatons during the summer (no one warned me of this in college!). Still, when my dream of treating my mom to a weekend in Savannah fell through, I booked a flight to surprise her for her birthday instead. Yes, it may have been only 23 hours total but those 23 hours were full of laughter, scouring the farmer’s market, linking elbows, and one lovely brunch and 4 mimosas. It was by far my most beloved summer memory.

Spending Labor Day weekend buying my wedding dress with my mom and the groom’s mom. It’s the first weekend our families have spent much time together and it’s the closest I’ve felt with my mother in law. Days shopping, nights with the guys grilling out…it was an absolutely perfect weekend!

My favorite summer memory was experiencing our daughter swim in the Mediterranean for the first time. We had tried to convince her to come in with us all summer (she would only wade in at the beach – she wouldn’t swim out) but two days before we departed France she came in with us, kicked around, and had a wonderful time. It was one of life’s little milestones that will forever be marked in my memory.

My favorite summer memory is the summers growing up in San Diego. On summer nights I would be right next to the ocean at 2am in the morning (when the clubs were closing) and it was still 85 degrees out but with a gorgeous sea breeze. There is nothing like it in the world….sigh

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with a trying autoimmune disease. This summer, I found out that the medication I have been taking for the last few years has had little effect on slowing the progression and I’ve started a new medication with even more difficult side-effects. This has been a difficult summer, yet one of the most exciting summers I have had.
On an evening when I was feeling horrible after having taken this new medication, I almost cancelled plans to go out to dinner with some friends, but decided last minute to attend; It is summer, after all! That night I met some very interesting people, one of whom has handed me an opportunity that has essentially allowed me to start my own consulting business. This is my favorite summer memory and it has shown me that I have so much to look forward to and to work towards!

My absolute favorite summer memory was getting engaged during an impromptu trip to the beach. After a night of everything going anything but according to plan (3 hours of standstill traffic, the kitchen of the local restaurant closing early by time we got there, etc.), we had a dinner consisting of a bottle of wine and pizza on the beach and once we made our way back to the house, he proposed!

My idea of a perfect summer day has always been a day at the beach. But my favorite memory of this summer was probably at my bf’s family Lakehouse. On the lake, with the surrounding mountains, we tried stand up paddle boarding- so fun & what a workout! But the best part was my puppy jumping on and going for a ride on my board ;) A day on the water, either the ocean or the lake is the best!

My favorite memory of this summer was definitely that evening when we sipped from a good glass of wine in the South of France and watched the sun go down from our little house we rented. At night my husband and I watched the stars… there were sooo many of them, much more than where we live! I loved the warm long evenings there, I miss it… And I miss summer.

My absolutely favorite memory of the summer was what some may consider a little on the boring side….but to me, it was the essence of summer. Not doing too much, and not feeling guilty about it. Just sitting in my lounge chair on the beach at Tybee Island, GA, drinking my coke, watching people walk by, looking at favorite magazines, and thinking about how fortunate I was to have this little luxury.

Sitting in a low slung beach chair close to the surf on Pawley’s Island, digging up sharks teeth with my toes in the sand. Then going to one of those funky little shops on the “strip” in Myrtle Beach and having a pair of tiny black teeth wrapped in gold wire and made into pierced earrings. I still have my Pawley’s Island Shark Tooth earrings and wear them every time I go to the beach! It brings back memories of those early days when I fell in love with the sand and the sea!
