Sometimes a room comes along that reminds you that sometimes the best plan is to keep things simple…

I keep looking at this room, thinking, well, it’s not that amazing… and yet, I’m drawn to it. The architecture of the space really speaks for itself here. From rustic wood beams to the stone used in the fireplace and pale planked floors – it goes to show how investing in good materials can really make a space.

Imagine this room empty – you can see how it could be a challenge to lay out. Because it’s not the main room in the house, it really makes the most sense here to just create a cozy nook with this custom bench sofa to just curl up on next to the fire. A simple coffee table with nice personality, a bit of lighting and artwork, and you’re set. For the record, I love the contrast of a glamorous chandelier in here. For me, it makes the space just that much more interesting.

The perfect spot to curl up with a good book, don’t you agree?

This room looks amazing! I really like this cozy sofa, I can imagine it’s a perfect place for relaxing and reading a book or chatting with friends. I also like the colorful pillows, which give small pop of color to this neutral space.
