It’s been far too long since I did a little ‘In the Details‘ post, but the Dallas home of Joslyn Taylor – featured in the latest issue of Rue – was the perfect piece of inspiration for me to get back into this series! Coincidentally (ok, not really) I’m also heading to Dallas tomorrow for the Rue + Gap Styld.by party on Thursday, and I hope to see some of my favorite southern ladies + gents there!
There’s so much beautiful texture in Joslyn’s home, and she knows how to do it just right, making every element a piece of the puzzle – even firewood! Instead of piling on the fireplace, or worrying about a carrier, she uses the pieces artfully – creating a little niche under the console for the logs to lie.
I’m not sure this element made it into the issue, but this cool bar area for entertaining also boasts a totally unique feature – a built in fishtank! I love how Joslyn topped the tank with a piece of art, so it looks like art itself!
I’m a sucker for sweet little sentiments, and I loved how this detail (it says “I love you more than all the stars”) is tucked behind a sparkling disco ball. This little corner evokes such a magical moment! Did you have a favorite element from Josyln’s feature? (It starts on pg. 86!)
And for those of you who are gonna ask… here are all the details on Thursday’s party!
I think it’ll be a blast and I can’t wait to spend a few days in Dallas too! Any must-do’s while I’m there? You know I love my home decor shopping…
