DEAR NYC. I’VE MISSED YOU.

There’s a little piece of my heart that belongs in New York City. I suppose that’s true for most of us who are creative. Who feed off of the energy, the people, the style, the food… the things that make that big bustling city what it is. And, my goodness am I overdue for a visit…

While this trip will be a little work, it will be much more play as I’m planning on staying for the entire long weekend – and no, I’m not sticking around for fashion week (more on that to come!).

I’ve already made plans for some museum hopping, a night out with the girls, and a day in Brooklyn. Any new favorites or old haunts that I must see? Shopping, dining and general amazingness recommendations welcome. Maybe we’ll even try and sneak in to the US Open… I have always wanted to go!

oh! I just returned from my first trip to the city. I fell in LOVE! I am trying to figure out how I can work and live from there. I am yearning to go back!

Went a month ago to a show on Broadway…couldn’t get a cab during rush hour…took a “pedi-cab”..one hasn’t “lived” until they’ve taken a pedi-cab ride during rush hour at 110 degrees (in the shade) down Broadway. I LUV NEW YORK!! franki

    Dear Cassandra,
At least once in your life, you should WALK across the Brooklyn Bridge (start in Lower Manhattan near the City Hall subway stop). With the right shoes, it’s not a bad walk–and the views are magnificent!. There are even vendors selling water on the bridge if you get thirsty.

Then at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge (on that side), watch for the magical JANE’S CAROUSEL in Brooklyn Park, a 30+ year restoration project, housed in a glass pavilion designed by architect Jean Nouvel (http://janescarousel.com). Take a ride on a carousel horse and feel as if you’re eight years old again. Enjoy!

I feel the same way about NYC. We’re only about an hour and a half away but for some reason it’s hard for me to get up there often. The energy, the vibe, I love it all. And I hope you have a chance to get to the US Open – it’s a really fun event filled with great tennis and good people watching.
