HEAVEN IN A PENTHOUSE

I know I’ve mentioned my infatuation with conservatories on the blog before. There’s something magical to me about a space that blurs the line between indoors and out … with beautiful architecture nonetheless. So you can imagine how this  penthouse in NYC sent my heart racing when I discovered it had not one… not two… but three conservatories converted into living space.

I had to include the floorplan for reference. So much square footage was being taken up by the patio, it made complete sense to expand into them – and with plenty of room for an outdoor dining area! You guys. This is pure heaven to me. I must must must live here. And throw dinner parties all the time. (You’re invited, of course.)

I think they chose the perfect rooms to be ‘outdoors,’ don’t you? Let’s face it, winter in New York isn’t exactly tame, and you don’t want your cozy living room under a ceiling of snow. Luckily (or rather, well planned, I’m sure) the natural light continues into the ‘indoor’ areas making the transition between these spaces seamless.

Such a sweet kitchen – I love how it opens into the patio. Can you imagine this being your study?

It would be so delightful on a sunny day, and so romantically moody on a stormy one. The kind of space that provokes one to write better, create more, drink dry cappuccinos all day, whisky at night, and nap anytime you might please.

My parents have one at their house and it is awesome! in the rain especially. But in the middle of summer or winter it is def not fun to be in–it gets way too hot or cold :P

This space simply took my breath away – gorgeous! I’m a huge fan of natural light, and the changing seasons in NYC would make living in this space that much more amazing. Yes, I think I have just found my dream home….
