ROOM OF THE WEEK 9.15

As I’ve been hunting for inspiration for my own living room, I’ve realized that there’s really no other way to describe my style than perfect eclectic…

Not boho eclectic. Not crazy cat-lady eclectic. It’s an OCD person’s version of eclectic. And this is pretty close to it. It works for me because while there is a small mix of patterns, styles and textures, everything still has its place. They are minimal layers, and bits of color, and it certainly has that feeling of being put together over time. I could, however, do without not one but two tree stumps. (Kinda over it and hello, I live in Seattle. We have enough trees.) This is also a crazy amount of seating in one area, but hey, I like to have parties and I like my guests to have somewhere to sit, so I won’t complain too much. Last little note? I like some white space between my mantle and my mirror – that piece should be drawing the eye up! But what I do love is the mix of leather, wovens, bamboo, fabric, stripes, florals, and lacquer all in one space… and all working together. What do you think?

I love the pop of color with the orange curtains and the tall lamp to bring some height into the room. Great lighting this room has!

Never really sat down and thought about how many versions of eclectic there are, but you’re right. I believe I am eclectic as well, but a bit more edgy. Great points!

personally, i love this. it reminds me A LOT of my current living room after my boyfriend and i have merged tastes and belongings. leather couch (him). striped rug (me). we even have the pop of bright blue in a coffee table i painted. the mix of everything not only gives the appearance of having been collected over time, but it’s also so timeless–as long as you’re surrounded by things you love (even if they don’t ‘go together’), it will always be in style. great inspiration!!

I like that room. It looks very… habitable, maby because of many colors, not the sterile type :) Though, I would rather like a sofa and a pair of armchairs, but not two sofas. But the deckchair is ok

The yellow couch with the blue couch are a remarkable combo. The placement of everything and the fireplace are gorge!

The layout is open and inviting. The patterns, textures and all the color pull your eye towards every direction, with not one specific focal point. Which make it engaging and captivating, makes it fun to look at. So many words to describe, beautiful room.

Going through a similar dilemma (that I recently blogged about as well). Hubby and I are moving into our first real apartment together (here in Paris) and having some advance anxiety! But also looking forward to really planning and working our new space :-)

I love it, it’s stunning. I want to redo my living room but we’re moving into a smaller place in a better location in the city :(

I’m lusting after all the daylight that I’d find perfect for working in. BTW thanks for stopping in to say ‘Hi’ on my blog.

I have a long huge LR and the creation of seating areas has really made all the difference in not aonly the way the room functions and flows but how it FEELS. It cannot help but to be inviting and a destination. I have a chaise lounge under a sunny window in one seating area and it is literally may favorite place to be in the world. Good luck–share pics when you do it!!

This is perfectly my style! I loooooove it! But I do have to agree on that little white space between the mantle and the mirror. But otherwise the mix of textures and patters makes me not want to look away!

I think this executes the idea of mixing, perfectly. And for those who are a bit more “OCD” as you put it, this could just be the room to convince them that mixing doesn’t have to be messy. I also think that keeping the walls mostly bare keeps the overall look clean and simplified. The circular mirror is the perfect touch, but also the circular shape helps to keep it soft and center you. Beautiful room. . .thank you for sharing!. . . and I want those pillows!
