Room of the Week 12.31

If this is the last Room of the Week for this year… does that make it the Room of the Century? I don’t think I could really pick one of those if I tried…
But this one would make a great candidate. I mean, just look at all it encompasses! The return of animal print, bold black and white stripes, ‘tribal’ (does anyone else hate that word?) influences, a touch of mid-century modern and pretty little embellishments that come together to create this cozy traditional romanticism… in other words, a totally undefinable space. That’s my prediction for 2010, by the way. The speed of design + the need for originality = undefinable spaces. And hopefully, a few less frills. I’m liking the lean towards clean and fresh. What do you think??

Oh I loved this room the instant I saw it, too! Miles Redd is so good at creating a fantasy (I guess his background in set design helps). And I think you are right, for 2010 we are going to see a lot more undefinable, original spaces that mix it all together.

Happy New Year, Cassie! Thanks for all the inspiration you provided us in 2009!

It is a fantastic getaway space, but I like you are looking to streamline clean up a bit and flow the interiors throughout.
    Happy New Year,

This room is gorgeous! The blue curtains are such a unique addition that immediately grab my eye, but the leopard print chairs have to be my favorite. Happy New Year!!

I lean more towards the minimalistic/clean side. But I am glad I clicked on the comment thing to see how many people really do like these types of interiors, very interesting. It kind of reminds me of Delta Burke and Designing Women:)

    Happy New Year!

Ha, ha … "tribal" is not a favorite of mine either.

I'm all for clean and fresh. It looks nice and keeps my mind clear:)

I actually posted a few of my 2010 design predictions yesterday, and one of them was "tribal" influences, lol. I do wish that there was a better term cause "tribal" is pretty vague. I like your prediction of undefined spaces. I think we're going to see more vintage influences especially and more natural textures like bare wood.

And if you saw my tear-sheet binder you'd know how hard it would be for me to pick a room of the century (or even of the year!)

I'm not sure I'll ever fall out-of-love with striped walls – did you see the J Crew bathroom in Lonny? Stunner.
