Mirror Mirror… For a Headboard?

This gorgeous bedroom featured on {this is glamorous} last week caught my eye with its stunningly huge mirror headboard…

I’ll admit – I’ve always wanted an oversized antique mirror to lean against a wall in my living room or entry someday, but the bedroom? I’m not sure…

Then I remembered this room from Paul Costello. Similar idea, with a more relaxed style, and I adore the sheers draped over the bed for a special effect. The bench is replaced by a worn chest, and the drapes are kept light. Funny that the bedding is remarkably similar! I think the simple lines of this mirror are somehow more appealing to me, although less dramatic than the one above. Which do you prefer? And would you dare to put a mirror at the head of the bed?

I would surely go with the first picture. How lovely! BTW, I visit your blog daily but never comment. It’s one of my favorites!

I love this look. When I first moved out on my own, I only had a bedframe and would change the headboard all the time. Once I used a big vintage mirror. Thanks for sharing!

I adore old vintage mirrors, and the bigger the better!! But I’m not sure about using one as a headboard though! Although it looks pretty – the bottom one is my fav!
And I’ll second that fear of it breaking!!
Isn’t it some feng shui no-no to have a mirror reflecting your bed?!

Hi Cassandra! I just wanted to say thanks. I just went to Paul’s web site and it made me smile :) I have been feeling a little down lately and questioning whether I really knew what I was doing. Sometimes following ones heart doesn’t always mean you made the right decision. Paul’s images made me realize that this is what it’s all about. And yes, I love the idea of the mirrored headboard!

anon – thank you so much for leaving a comment!! i love to hear from the new people around here :)

*L, i would have to agree that my fear of the mirror falling on me is greater than the fear of bad feng shui… maybe that comes from growing up in earthquakes in LA?!

carol, i’m glad you found some needed inspiration in paul’s site. i just adore everything he does :)

    happy new year all!!

I’ll take the first room, you take the second and we can be friends. I love the aged mirror and the quiet elegance. I have got to marry Santa.

I love both of those for different reasons. I love the dramatic style of the top picture, but I also love the sheer drapes over the bed in the second. However I’m not so sure I would want a mirror for a headboard! Great pics though. =)

Love them both, and have had a mirror as a head board, and also leaning on a wall right next to the bed, and ahem in the 1970′s on the ceiling.
Mirrors and beds are sexy and glam, even if one is not ha ha.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year!
